View Larger Neon lights, robots, sexal services and crowed streets, welcome to Thailand, the future version. I’m not a big fan of this kind of images. Always feel too noise and loud. But this short film features one theme, what the meaning of being alive. As the story told by the film, people are not organic anymore, then how to classify death? Memories are the only thing to distinguish one to another. Well we still have our body organically, memories should be respected more, the only thing that proves we are alive.

From food lovers, to cooking bloggers, Tamy & Felipe had not think about themselves opening a restaurant in NYC. But After hosting dinner parties for strangers in their own apartment, the NYC Department of Health took notice and shut them down. Instead of stopping doing what they liked, they seek for new challenge. They started to rent a commercial kitchen and continue hosting their dinner parties to all people who want to enjoy NY food.
It’s an inspiriting story to watch. On our ways to success, even the tiniest thing that we want to achieve, there will always be obstacles. It’s when we have to make decision, whether to continue or not. Never say stop so easily as the hardest part of doing anything is to keep doing it!

Speechless, after viewing this magnificent timelapse which took two years to shot on Earth, to be specific, mainly in Spain, Iceland, Estonia and USA. This is the magic of timelapse. Even if I was there where they took photos, I would not feel it so powerful as when I watch the video. Time is so potent, but we could not see it directly. Thanks to the invention of this cinematographic technique, time is observable to all of us now. Made on Earth reminds me how precious to be part of it, to live on this beautiful planet, called Earth.

A short film from Chinese indie filmmaker Jin He.
Short film which they call WeiDianYing in Chinese is suddenly popular in mainland China. Lots of competitaions , awards and lots of fans. Unfortunately they would not be able to watch or upload to major video site like Vimeo or Youtube. We will present more independent film from China and at the mean time, give all our selected short films a chance to be seen and get popular in China.
Watching Brackets is more like seeing a theater play. You might feel it a bit awkward but it’s a fashionable way of presenting non-commercial short films in China. Beautiful shots and slow progressing give it poetry feelings. And it focus on one of biggest social problem in China, it is very hard to get back the money other people owe you. Owing money is everywhere, from owing worker’s wage, to owing huge amount of money from bank. Lots of tragedies happened due to this. As the filmmaker Jin He said in the film, he wanted to dedicate this film to those people who refuse to pay their debts.
This is a interesting thought of putting together NASA footage with a soliloquy from a dying robot. Never thought of a Sci-fi like this. Telling the story from a outsider, the robot’s point of view.

Who we are going to meet, what kind of family we were born at, when we are going to die and how it happens, these are called destiny which was decided when we were born, or maybe even before that. Do you believe in it? Lots of people do, otherwise how should we explain some strange things and scenarios?
If all of us knew how and when we were going to die, should we still work so hard, care so much or be so mean to the one who loved us so much? Or maybe the world would not be the same. Some of us will accept it and just waste their precious time on waiting for the final moment to come; others will work even harder try to change their destiny. It happens everyday, take a look at the cancer patients. What will you choose if you knew you would die soon.

It remains me lots of my friends who play the internet game all day and night, eat by the computer, talk only levels and battle fields. Playing internet games is addictive to lots of them. Think about living our lives as a game with levels, achievements, guidance and all projects to do; knowing other people by profile rather than communication; arts, tv, deco… having everything we want virtually even in a real empty apartment. It sounds great! But really?
I’m not a big fan of games anyway, so I might not be presenting majority here. But still there are few things I could not bear if I wear one of these new tech contacts, my profile will be seen by anyone in the game, I guess I need more space than that; I could not think of a life without communication and misunderstanding, you’ll know people by facts with no mysterious, that’s boring; finally and most importantly, it makes our lives meaningless. Dating, cooking or any activity is only for achieve requirements for a higher level. What is the point of living a life? Life should be full of enjoyment and sharing. Life could not stand alone and will be more interesting by interacting with others.
Sight, the short film that does not only present great animation, production and VFX but also has a refreshing storyline.

Different from the original route, this timelapse starts from the Beijing, the capital passes the old origin Xi’an, Turpan, Kashgar, Tash Rabat, Song Kol,Tashkent, Bukhara and finally arrived at Samarkand in UZBEKISTAN. Following the silk road, travel to the mystery north west of China is always my dream. Thanks to this timelapse, we saw temples, great ancient architecture, markets, food and most importantly the people from different areas of the world along the way. The song is so Persia, and I could not think of any one better suit these shots. Let’s go back to the oldest trade route of Euro-Asia with this short film.

We found the topic of near future is so hot among the indie filmakers. We want people to be awared of the downside of current fast progressing digitalization. They are good Shorts because of the massive use of digitalized pic and VFX. They won’t be so easy to spread if there is no Vimeo or Youtube. Are we making the right choice? What shall we do next? With social networks booming all over the world, how much privacy left for us as common ones? Millions of people know what you are doing and really how many of them care? Some of us start to protect ourselves by seperate accounts for work and family; some cover up the true identy by supply faulty information. But how you gonna hide yourselves by the day when all of the informations about you are related directly with your DNA, the one we are born with identically. It might be good for lowering the crime rate, but everything else it will bring is on the dark side. What if the informations were used against our human rights, what if people with different purposes got the access to the data?
