(Watch and Vote The Origin of Creature)

A futuristic vision of a world after a catastrophic disaster.

The storyline of The Origin of Creatures is based on one of the most well-known tales about collaboration, the Tower of Babel. This tale is transformed and twisted and is set in an imaginary future, after the world is hit by a catastrophe. Among the remains of a devastated city lives that what is left of humanity. Human bodies are divided into separated parts of the body and are fused to special beings. Together, these creatures form a colony, they can only survive when collaborating. In the rubble of destroyed buildings they are trying to build a nest as large and as high as possible, so that the colony’s queen gets enough sunlight to reproduce, but due to miscommunication this mission is doomed to fail.

After watching this animation short film, I could not stop thinking about the similarity of the story and our world right now. So many nations, countries, religions and languages, problems are generated by both greed of human nature and misunderstanding between us. It’s hard to imagine if there were no such problems, what human could do. We might have already live on another planet. Well it’s just a thought, sometime I do believe the greedy nature of ours makes human the most developed creature in this planet; and the different cultures and languages make our lives more interesting and of course provide so many jobs. Well I could just speak for both sides never end, but I really want to know what is your thought?

Billy becomes the reluctant subject of worship when his delusional mother decides he is Jesus reincarnate.

Simple story but full of fun. In the world of specialty, it is hard to imagine that someone would do so many things to avoid attentions. But life is all about indeterminacy and unexpected one makes our lives interesting. As one of Gen Y, I always think myself special, at least for some part. The truth is we are just normal, really nothing special about us besides we are one of the echo boomers. That might explain why, because there are too many of us in the similar age living in the world and compete for better lives. Truth is the hardest thing to accept. But after watching this interesting short film, I could not help but wonder, is the one who feels himself “nothing special” the real special one in this generation? Or the “nothing special” one is actually working harder and focus on their job no matter how simple it is.  That makes “nothing special’” one more dependable and special in this world.  Thanks Helena for bringing us this funny but interesting short film.

Chris Black possesses a power that could lead to the destruction of the current regime, and they will stop at nothing to destroy him. 

The chase is on as Chris runs for his life in this sci-fi thriller set in an alternate and futuristic Los Angeles.

There was one shot catching my eyes, the tramp was killed by the police just because he blocked the way of reaching Chris Black, the suspect. In the beginning, when police was chasing Chris, I thought he must have done something bad. But after that shot, I realized that it was not about a suspect anymore. And then I saw the super power Chris had, that was the thing made him the suspect. The government must be worried about the way of using the super power. I could not help but wonder whether that is necessery to kill someone just because he/she is powerful. Could the “not sure” be the reason to kill? We love the story so much as it explore one current issue in the world, preventing things from happening could end up with a lot worse situations. Our fears are destroying us. Plus the picture is great, this short film have so much potential to be longer. Can’t wait to watch it in the cinema.

A short animation on prison life from ESMA

A young prisoner arrives at a prison where everything is crazy. Smaller and sicker than others, he quickly becomes the scapegoat. Suddenly everything changes, he finds himself propelled to the top of the hierarchy in the prison…

We’ve seen a lot of movie about prison lives, about hierarchy and rules in the prison, it seems hard to survive. But from my point of view prison is confined small world, it rather simpler and purer than the outside world. Powerful there means either stronger or smarter. Just like this short animation presented, what to take to climb to the top was just to find the weak point of the current top man and control it. We like the way it ended, day dreaming. What is love becoming as the world is more developed? Definitely better, lovers have more resources, new places to go, lots of adventures, various gifts plus communication has never been so easy. Basically lovers have more to share in a developed world than savage conditions. There are thousands of new inventions everyday, does that mean eventually we can invent love? I doubt. Love means a lot more than just two people being together nicely.  Love need communication with hearts; Love need undivided focus; Love need sacrifies…How should we keep love longer in our technological world? It’s a hard question for everyone. 

Animation short film Inspired by Lotte Reiniger works and Antony Lucas’s Jasper Morello film, directed and created by Andrey Shushkov, presented us a love story begins in a wild remote village and ends in the highly industrialized city. By applying shadow play, which is an ancient form of storytelling and entertainment that uses flat articulated figures (shadow puppets) to create the impression of moving humans and other three-dimensional objects, the whole film is more objective, letting us, the viewers to judge. So what do you think? Can love be invented? Let’s know what’s your thought!

‘Fragments’ is a short 3D animation created through the collaborative efforts of Cosmin Hrincu and George Varettas.

The film follows the journey of an old man, dependant on an oxygen machine, travelling across a perilous, unforgiving and seemingly lifeless landscape. Overshadowed by the colossal remains of what once was, the decayed and ruinous structures around him serve as a constant reminder of his tragic past and the burdens that he now bears. He finds a glimpse of hope through the staggering discovery of a small egg, a fragile source of life that he takes it upon himself to care for and nurture.

Fuelled by pathos and decay, ‘Fragments’ tells a touching story of an old man’s struggle to let go of his past in order for life to start a new beginning.

MARS & VENUS is a psychological horror/drama by Imaginnation Picture.

It’s about a woman who is haunted by the ghost of her husband after a fatal car accident on their honeymoon. As reality begins to blur, who is the ghost becomes unclear. It reminds me a movie called The Others from the first glance. Both films are about ghost, or spirits of dead human does not realize they are dead. It’s a interesting cut in point to write a horror play. As the director/writer JERAD said about this film, MARS & VENUS began as a film about death, it transcended into a film about love which was quite different from The Others which was focus more on Horror and that is the best part of this film, it tried to tell us all that death is not the end, but the begging of the eternal life we all share together. Besides the death turned love story, the picture is poetic, the use of light and illusion it creates, the art in the film is very significant to us. It’s a pleasure to watch it and to let my heart to be moved.

Grilled cheese with steak, cucumber, little bit of peper corn and Dijon Mustard. What a delightful late night snack for weather in my place, hail and storm all over. We love the idea of presenting food preparation using stop motion. It’s so refreshing and easy to follow. Food bloggers should have a go on this, it’s much more standing out and interesting than just tasteful photos they took using expensive cameras.  Can’t wait to see more from Salman!

Cappadocia, an ancient historical region in Central Anatolia. Due to its exceptional natural wonders, in particular characterized by fairy chimneys and a unique historical and cultural heritage, it becomes one of the most desirable tourism destinations.  This is a cute little short film with lots of new ideas. We love the use of map interconnecting each place they go. It feels like we are on the road trip with them, and checking the map at the back seat. We love the way attractions is presented. It looks more tempting than seeing them in the tourism advertisements.  The most love to the song track they choose for the background. It is very Turkish and full of flavours of summer holidays. And at the end, the film is most precious memory for two of them, and their future son Olivier, the first trip for the family to be together. How sweet!
